The company „GESCO“ was found by the Siemens brothers in 1872. In 1954, GESCO became the state-owned enterprise „Elekrokohle Lichtenberg“. After the reunification of Germany, the company was transformed into a corporation with the name "Elektrokohle Lichtenberg AG". In 1997, privatization was carried out by the SGL Carbon Group, under the new name "SGL PanTrac GmbH". The company was taken over by E-Carbon In 2003 and since then it has been called PanTrac GmbH.

International Owners
The owner of E-Carbon S.A. is a joint venture between Gerken S.A. in Verviers, Belgium, and Helwig Carbon Products, Inc., Milwaukee, USA.
